Ramadan Sananta Not Summoned By The Indonesian National Team, Head Of BTN: Purely Shin Tae-yong's Decision

JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team coach, Shin Tae-yong, has appointed 27 players to strengthen the team against Bahrain and China in the Third Round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification. From this list, Ramadhan Sananta, who had previously been a mainstay, disappeared.

Previously, the Persis Solo player was included in Shin Tae-yong's choice. Sananta was summoned to the Indonesian national team against Saudi Arabia and Australia in the first two matches of Group C of the Third Round of the Asian Zone 2026 World Cup Qualification, last September.

However, on the previous occasion Ramadhan Sananta did not get playing minutes. Now, at the moment before the third and fourth parties qualifying, his name disappeared from the call list.

Related to that, the Head of the National Team Agency (BTN), Sumardji, explained that the decision not to summon Ramadan Sananta was Shin Tae-yong's choice.

"For Ramadan Sananta, it has become the choice of coach Shin Tae-yong," said Sumardji in a statement quoted on Friday, October 4, 2024.

"Coach Shin Tae-yong will also monitor Liga 1 2024/2025. So, he can choose which players can defend the Indonesian national team," said Sumardji again.

Regarding Shin Tae-yong's activities, who often monitors League 1 competitions, this can indeed be taken into consideration by the coach to assess the performance of the players who will be summoned to the Indonesian national team.

Ramadan Sananta is indeed one of Persis Solo's mainstay players. Of the seven weeks that have been rolling, Sananta has never been absent.

However, his sharpness in front of the opponent's goal was still considered lacking by Shin Tae-yong. The reason is, the player who has a market value of IDR 4.7 billion has only scored one goal in this season's competition.
