JAKARTA President Joko Widodo has confirmed that he will avoid the opening ceremony of the 2024 National Paralympic Week (Peparnas) this weekend.
Peparnas XVII 2024 will officially open on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at Manahan Stadium, Solo, Central Java.
The Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), Dito Ariotedjo, confirmed that President Joko Widodo had confirmed that he would attend the event.
"Mr. President gave directions to attend the opening," said Dito at the Kemenpora Office, Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, afternoon WIB.
Dito admitted that he had coordinated directly with Joko Widodo regarding his presence both at the opening and closing.
"The provisional directive is that he is present at the opening," he said.
