Eliano Reijnders And Mees Hilgers Have Been Registered By PSSI Against Bahrain And China

JAKARTA - The chairman of the National Team Agency (BTN), Sumardji, confirmed that Eliano Reijnders and Mees Hilgers could participate in defending the Indonesian national team in the Third Round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification. Both have been registered for the match.

The Indonesian national team will undergo the continuation of the 2026 World Cup Qualification Third Round on October 10 and 15, 2024. These two away matches will be played against Bahrain and China.

After the two players completed naturalization, they are currently just waiting for the transfer of associations from KNVB to PSSI.

"This is in process. We have registered it as of today, Tuesday, October 1, 2024. I am also following the progress. Hopefully the process will run smoothly," said Sumardji.

"We have (registered against Bahrain). We will immediately register it. Hopefully this is a smooth process for the transfer of associations so that later they can directly defend the Indonesian national team against Bahrain on October 10, 2024," he said again.

Hilgers and Eliano have officially become Indonesian citizens (WNI) since Monday, September 30, 2024. Both of them underwent their oath of allegiance as Indonesian citizens at the Indonesian Embassy in Belgium.

Sumardji, who also serves as Manager of the Indonesian national team, said PSSI would register 27 players for the match against Bahrain and China.

The players will begin to gather on Saturday, October 5, 2024, and immediately leave for Bahrain.
