Bob Arum Openly Calls Anthony Joshua's Career Ended

JAKARTA - Promotor Bob Arum openly said Anthony Joshua's career had ended after losing by knockout against Daniel Dubois.

Joshua fell four times before KO in the fifth round in the race for the IBF heavyweight title, 21 September 2024.

Bob Arum, promoter for seven decades, said there was no way for Anthony Joshua to have a rematch against Dubois.

The 34-year-old boxer has been beaten badly in front of 98,000 spectators at Wembley.

"No, you won't have a bad night by being beaten badly like that," said Bob Arum in FightHub.

According to Bob Arum, Joshua is more suitable to fight Deontay Wilder if he wants to return to the ring.

Wilder is both a prisoner because he suffered two most recent defeats against Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang.

"I just think AJ (Anthony Joshua) has gone through a lot of war. I think it's over for him and Wilder."

"Maybe they can fight each other, that's good," said Bob Arum again.

Meanwhile, Anthony Joshua doesn't seem to heed Bob Arum's words.

He has met promoter Eddie Hearn and Saudi Arabian boxing authority holder Alalshikh, days after his defeat to Dubois.

Hearn said all parties were ready for a potential rematch. They scheduled the duel to take place in February 2025.

"Daniel also wanted a rematch, it was the biggest fight for him and they would love it."

"It's a matter of going and talking about, are we going straight to a rematch? When will that happen?"

"It was a tough night at work, we won't be back fighting in 10-12 weeks. He needs rest and time to recover," Hearn told talkSPORT.
