2025 U-20 Asian Cup Qualification: Indra Sjafri Rejects Timor Leste U-20 Reshuffle

The U-20 Indonesian national team does not want to underestimate Timor Leste U-20 (doc. PSSI).

JAKARTA The U-20 Indonesian national team coach, Indra Sjafri, refused to underestimate Timor Leste U-20 when the two teams met in the Group F match of the 2025 U-20 Asian Cup Qualification.

The two teams will clash at the Madya Stadium, Senayan, Jakarta, on Friday, September 27, 2024, at 19.30 WIB.

Indra said that the squad made by coach Krishnan Ramasamy could not be underestimated even though they lost 1-3 against Yemen U-20 in the group's first match.

"After this we are fighting Timor Leste U-20. We remain vigilant and should not underestimate them," said Indra as quoted from the PSSI website.

Indonesia played this match after the first match silencing the U-20 Maldives with a score of four goals without reply.

The result made Garuda Muda sit at the top of the standings with a collection of three points. Meanwhile, Timor Leste is in third position, behind Yemen in second place.

Indra revealed that Timor Leste clearly has the motivation to win against Indonesia U-20 so that the chance to qualify for the 2025 U-20 Asian Cup finals remains alive.

"Timor Leste has two or three players who are good individual players," said the coach who was born in Batang Kapas, West Sumatra.

In qualifying for the 2025 U-20 Asian Cup, only group winners will automatically get tickets to next year's finals in China.

A total of 10 group winners will automatically qualify. The teams will be accompanied by the five best second-placed teams to compete in the final round on 6-23 February 2025.
