Eliano Reijnders Enthusiastically Welcomes Indonesian Citizen Status, Alludes To Fanatism Supporting The Indonesian National Team

JAKARTA - Prospective Indonesian national team player, Eliano Reijnders, is undergoing naturalization in order to become part of the Garuda squad.

Most recently, he was present online in a request for naturalization recommendations at the Commission III and X working meetings of the DPR RI.

Eliano seemed so enthusiastic about waiting for his new status as an Indonesian citizen (WNI).

He had a chance to talk with the Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives Commission X Meeting, Dr. Ir. Hetifah Sjaifudian, MPP. On that occasion, Eliano revealed things that made him so excited to be part of Indonesia.

"The big difference is, Indonesia is a big country and loves football very much. In the Netherlands, people like football, but also like other sports," said Eliano Reijnders on the sidelines of a meeting on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, afternoon WIB.

Talking about football in Indonesia, Eliano also mentioned the fanaticism of supporters of the Garuda Squad. The militants of the supporters made him even more enthusiastic to complete their naturalization.

Eliano admitted that he saw the match between the Indonesian vs Australia national team in the second match of Group C of the Third Round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification. In the match which was held at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Jakarta, September 10, 2024, there were more than 70 thousand people crowding the stands.

"Very good, supporters filled the stadium. I saw when Indonesia fought Australia. Many people were happy with the result. We were able to secure a point which would be very good because we could get more in the future," he said.

Previously, Eliano explained about his strengths in his career in the Netherlands. With his experience, he believes he can make a big contribution to the Garuda Squad.

"I can play in different positions. I love playing in this team, with my teammates (in the Indonesian national team)."

"Because I played a lot in the Netherlands, I was able to help the team (Indonesia) reach a position in the World Cup and maybe more than this," said Eliano confidently.
