Officially Joins Almere City, This Is Thom Haye's First Expression

Thom Haye has officially joined Almere City (Instagram/@almerecityfc).

JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team midfielder, Thom Haye, has finally officially become part of Almere City. After signing his contract, Haye revealed the reason for choosing the Eredivisie club.

"I chose Almere City with my mind and heart. I have had good conversations with them. I believe in the strategy on and off the pitch," Thom Haye was quoted as saying by Almere City on Friday, September 13, 2024.

"All of this, combined with proposals that are also in accordance with my personality, means I will do everything I can this season to keep the Almere City FC at the Eredivisie," Haye said again.

From Thom Haye's deal with Almere City, the player is free of transfer and has a one-year contract.

"Almere City strengthened the team after the transfer market closed. Experienced midfielder Thom Haye came on a free transfer and signed a contract until next summer," wrote Almere's official website.

Almere's Technical Director, Johan Hansma, revealed that Thom Haye is a player the club is looking for to meet the needs of the team at this time.

"We are very happy with Thom's arrival, he is the player we are looking for. His arrival makes our squad complete, the players who will be with us to fight for the improvement of the Eredivisie this season," said Hansma.

Almere was the last club to approach Haye after the 29-year-old midfielder was linked to several European clubs.

Almere is currently ranked 17th in the Eredivisie 2024/2025 or second from below. In the last four matches, Almere has only won one point from one draw. While the other three matches ended in defeat.

Apart from Thom Haye, Almere has also had a relationship with Indonesian national team players. Stefano Lilipaly once strengthened the club based at Yanmar Stadium in 2012-2014.
