Hong Kong Open 2024: First Time Putri KW Touches Super Semifinals 500 BWF

Putri KW successfully penetrated the semifinals of the Hong Kong Open 2024 (doc. PBSI).

JAKARTA - Putri Kusuma Wardani reached the semifinals of the Hong Kong Open 2024. This achievement was her first semifinal in the BWF Super 500 level event.

The 22-year-old badminton player got a semifinal ticket after he defeated Danish representative Line Hojmark Kjaersfeldt, two straight games 21-13 and 21-12 at Hong Kong Coliseum on Friday, September 13, 2024, evening WIB.

"I am quite happy and proud of today's results. I managed to penetrate the first semifinals at the Super 500 level. This is a new achievement that should be grateful for," said Putri in a statement.

Meanwhile, the last four of the Hong Kong Open 2024 is the second consecutive semifinal that the Princess managed to climb. He was previously at the China Taipei Open 2024 last week also successfully reached the same round and then made it to the final and became runner-up.

Putri admitted that she was touched to be able to go far at the Hong Kong Open 2024 after in the last two months she had missed many matches.

"I have asked for an additional portion of training, both technical and physical. Thank God it has started to return to the best form. Not yet 100 percent, but it's okay," he said.

Putri is Indonesia's fourth representative to reach the semifinals at the Hong Kong Open 2024 from six representatives who have competed.

He followed in the footsteps of Jonatan Christie's men's singles and the men's doubles duo Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Mohammad Reza Pahlevi Isfanani and Leo Rolly Carnando/Bagas Maulana.
