JAKARTA - Cristiano Ronaldo cried in his 900th goal celebration. The goal was scored in Portugal's 2-1 win over Croatia in the 2024/2025 UEFA Nations League, September 5, 2024.

The 39-year-old forward became the first player in history to score 900 goals throughout his career.

He looked emotional after scoring goals from a distance of six yards using Nuno Mendes' cross. Ronaldo knelt down and cried at Estado da Luz, Lisbon, Portugal.

So far, Pele is considered the all-time leading goalscorer. FIFA awarded the Brazilian legend 1,281 goals.

However, the Brazilian world record holder collected his goal collection with the help of around 550 exhibition and amateur matches.

Pele's total goal in an official match during his career was 762 goals. But that collection leads to an old debate about which record is the most credible.

Meanwhile, all Cristiano Ronaldo's goals had occurred in the digital era and were recorded on video so that they easily reviewed.

Ronaldo scored 118 goals in 292 games for Manchester United after scoring five goals in Sporting Lisbon early in his career.
