JAKARTA - Indonesian tennis player, Aldila Sutjiadi, is still curious to hunt for his first Grand Slam title in his career after being eliminated in the semifinals of the US Open 2024.

The 29-year-old athlete failed to make it to the mixed doubles final with his Indian partner, Rohan Bopanna, after losing 3-6 and 4-6 against the host's representative, Taylor Townsend/Donald Young, on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, morning WIB.

Aldila said that reaching the semifinals at Flushing Meadows was already an extraordinary achievement. However, he still wants to realize his dream of winning a title in an event as important as Grand Slam.

"I will fight back at Grand Slam next year to achieve the best results in women's doubles or mixed doubles," Aldila said in a statement received.

Aldila will next appear at the Aceh-North Sumatra National Sports Week (PON) 2024 which will officially open on Monday, September 9, 2024.

He also hopes to make another achievement at the event. Previously, he had won three gold medals, respectively in Riau 2012, West Java 2016, and Papua 2020.

"Thank you for your support, please always pray so that I can continue to excel and become the ambassador of the Indonesian nation in the international tennis arena," said Aldila.

At the US Open 2024, Aldila played in two numbers. Apart from the mixed doubles, she also appeared in the women's doubles with Japanese tennis player, Ena Shibahara.

Shibahara is Aldila's fourth partner since she participated in the Grand Slam tennis tournament in 2022. She was previously recorded as having a duet with Pegangtarn Plipuech (Thailand), Miyu Kato (Japan), and Asia Muhammad (United States).

On his way to the US Open 2024, Aldila and Ena Shibahara only reached the second round or the last 16. Their steps stopped after losing to the Slovak/Britania Raya pair, Tereza Mihalikova/Olivia Nicholls, with a score of 6-4, 5-7, and 3-6.

So far, Aldila has qualified for the mixed doubles semifinals in three different Grand Slams. Prior to the US Open, he reached the same round at the French Open and Wimbledon 2023 with Matwe Middelkoop.
