Rizki Juniansyah Prohibited From Marrying Young

JAKARTA The Indonesian weightlifter who won the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Rizki Juniansyah, was prohibited from marrying young by his mother, Yeni Rohaeni.

Yeni refuses her child to marry young because she is currently very young. He said that young marriage could be at risk in Rizki's future career.

"Don't get married yet. Afraid of regret. If you can get a career and achievement (first)," said Yeni at the Meet and Greet VISA Team Rizki Juniansyah event in Jakarta on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, afternoon WIB.

Rizki, who is the first Indonesian lifter to receive an Olympic gold medal, is currently only 21 years old. Thus, he still has a long career path.

Rizki said that his future target list is still so many that he has not thought about releasing his single period. He is determined to return to make Indonesia proud on other important stages.

"My target is that three times the Olympics get gold, they just get married. If they are strong," said the athlete who was born in Serang, Banten, followed by laughter.

Rizki climbed the highest podium in the 73 kilograms class when he appeared at the 2024 Paris Olympics. He came out as the best with a total lift of 354 kg (snatch 155 kg and clean & jerk 199 kg).

He was recorded as defeating Thai athlete Weeraphon Wichuma, who brought home a silver medal and Bulgarian lifter, Bozhidar Andreev, who bagged bronze.

Rizki then prepared for PON XXI Aceh-North Sumatra 2024 which will start on September 8, 2024. At that event, Rizki will compete in the 89 kilogram class representing Banten Province.
