Ginting Gives An Explanation About Injury At Japan Open 2024

Anthony Sinisuka Ginting withdrew in the first round of the Japan Open 2024 (doc. PBSI).

JAKARTA The men's singles badminton player Anthony Sinisuka Ginting gave an explanation regarding the injury he got in the first round of the Japan Open 2024.

Ginting already lost in the first set 17-21 and was 4-5 behind in the second set against Yushi Tanaka when he decided to withdraw on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, afternoon WIB.

Ginting said that he felt the problem with his left ankle again when he landed on the first set in a duel with the Japanese men's singles badminton player.

"After the interval of the first game, when I jumped and landed, it didn't fit. So, my left ankle felt good," he said.

The bronze medalist at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics revealed that he had a history of injuries in that section and when he made preparations he felt bad.

"I tried to play in the first game, but I was afraid it would get worse. In the second game after a few points, my ankle felt even worse. Finally I decided to withdraw. After this I will focus on recovery first," he said.

Ginting's decision to withdraw made the Indonesian men's singles now only Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo will be the only one who will win French, Arnaud Merkle.

Indonesia should have three men's singles representatives in this Super 750 BWF event. However, previously Jonatan Christie had decided to resign because he had to accompany his wife to give birth.

Indonesia has sent a total of 10 representatives to the Japan Open 2024. Of that number, only women's doubles have no representatives at all.
