Kevin/Marcus Still Rank In First In The World Even Though Indonesia Is Forced To Resign From All England

JAKARTA - Men's doubles Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Marcus Fernaldi Gideon is still firmly in the world rankings even though they canceled their appearance at All England 2021 after being forced to withdraw from this prestigious tournament.

Based on the update of the World Badminton Federation (BWF) rankings for week 12 or as of Tuesday, March 23, the position of other Indonesian badminton players has also not changed from before.

Apart from Kevin/Marcus, Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan are also still in second place in the world with 100.557 points, as reported by Antara from the official BWF website.

However, the position of the Japanese men's doubles Hiroyuki Endo/Yuta Watanabe is now getting closer with an increase of two places to fourth after winning the All England 2021 last weekend.

Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto are still in seventh place with 72.894 points.

In the men's singles sector, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting is still in the fifth position with 82.182 points, followed by Jonatan Christie in the seventh position with 74.770 points.

Japan's mainstay badminton player Kento Momota still holds the status of the world number one player even though he had to stop in the quarter-finals of the All England 2021.

Meanwhile, Malaysian representative Lee Zii Jia jumped two places to eighth thanks to his victory in Birmingham.

Even in the women's doubles, there was no change in position for the representatives of Indonesia. Greysia Polii/Apriyani Rahayu still ranks sixth in the world with 83.115 points.

Likewise, the mixed doubles Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti are still in fourth place with 85.900 points.

All England 2021 is not included in the calculation of points for the Tokyo Olympics, but it will affect the placement of the seed list or seeding for the four-year sporting event which will be held on July 23-August 8.

Indonesia has so far secured at least six representatives to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

According to the BWF Race to Tokyo ranking, the six representatives were Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Jonatan Christie, Kevin Sukamuljo/Marcus Fernaldi Gideon, Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan, Greysia Polii/Apriyani Rahayu, and Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti.
