Menpora Calls Maritime Potential In The Thousand Islands Can Be A Water Sports Center

JAKARTA - Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia Dito Ariotedjo praised the beauty of marine tourism in the Thousand Islands, Jakarta, and stated that the area has great potential to become a water sports center.

"Looking at the Thousand Islands, I am sure that with its maritime potential, it actually has the potential to become a water sports center," said Dito, who attended the commemoration ceremony of the 79th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia, quoting Antara.

Dito explained that the development of water sports in the Thousand Islands can support the sports tourism sector which has a great opportunity to increase the number of tourists visiting the Thousand Islands.

"In the future, we from the Central Government will cooperate with the Thousand Islands Regency Government and the DKI Jakarta Government to focus on lifting the potential for water sports in this area," added Dito.

Dito's visit to the Thousand Islands was to attend the commemoration of the 79th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia, which was led by the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno and was attended by the Thousand Islands Regional Leadership Coordination Forum, as well as the local community.

Dito hopes that the collaboration of various parties can make the Thousand Islands a leading destination for water sports, which advances sports and boosts the regional economy.
