Technical Constraints At The 2024 Olympics Make The Indonesian Rock Climbing Match Recurrence

JAKARTA - Two Indonesian women's rock climbing athletes, Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi and Rajiah Salsabillah, have indeed made it to the quarter-finals of the 2024 Paris Olympics speed number.

However, their match had to go through with drama when starting from the preliminary round, Monday, August 5, 2024.

Desak started the match against French host athlete C. Viglione, in lane A. In fact, he became the fastest in the match.

However, the technical constraints on the finish button made the acquisition unregistered. As a result, the preliminary round match was stopped.

Then, the committee decided to repeat the match. Amazingly, during the rematch, Desak still performed his best.

He recorded the fastest time with a time of 6.52 seconds. In the second match against the same athlete when starting at Lane B, Desak described his best time to 6.45 seconds.

His best time record made him qualify for the elimination phase with the best fifth time out of 14 athletes.

In the elimination phase, Desak is increasingly showing his persistence. He managed to sharpen his time with a record 6.38 seconds against shot Kelly from the United States. With these results, Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi managed to qualify for the quarter-finals.

Meanwhile, Rajiah Salsabillah started the preliminary round match against United States athlete Emma Hunt. He recorded a time of 6.67 seconds on lane A and 6.58 seconds on lane B.

The 6.58 second best record saw him qualify for the elimination phase with the best seventh-time record ranking.

In the elimination phase, Rajiah fell against Leslie Adriana Romero Perez from Spain. Having been worried about not qualifying for the quarter-finals, he was still declared qualified for the quarter-finals.

One slot was successfully secured by Rajiah Salsabillah because he had the best time in the preliminary heats despite losing in the elimination round.

These results made the two women's athletes climbing the Indonesian speed rock will compete in the quarter-finals on August 7, 2024.

For information, the qualifying round for the 2024 Paris Olympics rock climbing round competed in 14 world athletes. In that round, there were two stages, namely preliminary heats and elimination preparations.

In the preliminary round, each athlete was given the opportunity twice to do the climbing action.

Each athlete will go through lane A and lane B. The timing note in this match heats round will affect the athlete's ranking in the elimination stage.

While the elimination preliminary round, only eight athletes with the best time records will qualify for the final round.
