Philippines Becomes The First Southeast Asian Country To Win Gold At The 2024 Olympics

JAKARTA - The Philippines became the first Southeast Asian country to win a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Their gymnastics athlete, Carlos Yulo, is the best floor gymnastics number at the Bercy Arena on Saturday, August 3, 2024.

Yulo's gold medal is also the second gold medal in the history of Filipino participation in the Olympics.

Yulo is also the first Southeast Asian gymnastics athlete to win an Olympic gold medal. In addition, he became the first Filipino male athlete to win an Olympic gold medal.

The 24-year-old athlete immediately cried with emotion after matching the achievements of weightlifter, Hidilyn Diaz, at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Defending champion Artem Dolgopyat from Israel was only able to secure a silver medal with a collection of 14,966 points.

British athlete Jake Jarman, who recorded the highest points in qualifying a week ago, collected 14,933 points to win a bronze medal.
