British MotoGP Qualification Results 2024: Aleix Espargaro Secures Pole

JAKARTA - Aprilia Racing racer Aleix Espargaro became the fastest in the 2024 British MotoGP Qualification session at the Silverston Circuit on Saturday, August 3, 2024.

Aleix Espargaro made a record time of one minute 57.309 seconds. As a result, the Spaniard will start ahead in Sunday's race, August 4, 2024.

Espargaro did not get this slick result easily. He got the best time than other drivers at the last second qualifying (Q2) seconds.

Before Espargaro became fastest, Francesco Bagnaia controlled the top position. However, at the end of qualifying, he had to settle for being evicted to second place by 0.208 seconds.

The third position is occupied by Bagnaia's teammate and compatriot, Enea Bastianini. The Ducati racer carved a time of 0.384 seconds slower than Espargaro.

Meanwhile, Marc Marquez could not speak much in qualifying sessions. The Baby Alien had to settle for only finishing seventh.

Jorge Martin was thrown off the first grid in the race tomorrow. Successfully sweeping in the previous three sessions, Free Practice 1, Practice, and Free Practice 2, the Pramac Racing rider only ranks fourth in qualifying.

In the qualifying session, a number of riders who did not enter the top 10 in the Practice session had to compete for the top two places in Q1 to qualify for Q2 to open up opportunities for pole position.

Franco Morbidelli, Pedro Acosta, Alex Marquez, Miguel Oliveira, Fabio Quartararo, and Johann Zarco are on the list. They underwent qualification from the Q1 session first.

At the end of Q1, finally Alex Marguez and Pedro Acosta were entitled to advance to Q2 after occupying the first and second fastest.

Their achievement was not bad in Q2. Alex Marquez even shot up by securing the fifth grid for the race later, while Asko was in ninth place.
