Triathlon Trial Of Paris 2024 Olympics Canceled For This Reason

JAKARTA The trial of the triathlon sport at the 2024 Paris Olympics was canceled. The competition, which should have been held along the Seine River, was canceled due to water quality reasons.

Triathlon staged three disciplines, namely: swimming, running, and bicycles. Running was held on the streets of Paris City, while swimming in the Seine River. The race trial should have been held on Sunday, July 28, but was not carried out due to pollution reasons.

The level of pollution in the Seine River is reported to have increased, as the 2024 Paris Olympics began. Until before the competition, the water quality was classified as below standard. Rain that fell throughout the opening of the Olympics on July 26, was mentioned as the cause of the decline in the quality of the Seine River.

For more than a century, the ban on swimming has been imposed on the SEEne River because pollution has been polluted. The Paris Olympic Committee worked hard, spending up to 1.3 billion euros or more than Rp230 trillion to clean rivers and improve water quality so that they could be used for the Olympics.

Two weeks before the opening ceremony, the Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, promoted by swimming in the Seine River. Hidalgo wants to report that the river is safe for swimming activities, after being cleaned since 2015 in preparation for the Olympics.

Triathlon will start contesting on July 30, featuring the men's indivual number. Furthermore, the women's individual number will be held on July 31, the last mixed relay number will be held on August 5.
