Provisional Standings For The 2024 AFF U-19 Cup: The Indonesian National Team Controls The Peak After Taklukan Cambodia

JAKARTA - The U-19 Indonesian national team again won in the second match of the 2024 AFF U-19 Cup group phase.

The three-point score this time made the Garuda Muda squad again master the top position of Group A.

The U-19 Indonesian national team faced Cambodia at Manahan Stadium, Solo on the second matchday of the group stage. In the match which took place at Manahan Stadium, Solo on Saturday, July 20 evening WIB, Indra Sjafri's team won 2-0 over their opponents.

The two points that brought victory over Cambodia were donations from Kadek Arel in the 71st minute and doubled by Iqbal Gwijangge in the 86th minute.

These three full points are the second achievements achieved by the U-19 Indonesian national team throughout the struggle in the group phase of the U-19 AFF Cup.

Winning in three consecutive group stage matches is an important target in order to qualify for the main round with the status of group winners.

The six points that are now in the collection also made Indra Sjafri's team control the Group A standings.

Meanwhile, Timor Leste, who on the same day lost 0-2 to the Philippines, remained in second place in Group A because they were ahead on goal difference.

On the other hand, Cambodia, which has lost twice in a row, has to live in the bottom of Group A. Despite winning twice, Indonesia has not yet been confirmed to qualify for the knockout stages.

Iqbal Gwijangge and his friends still have to fight in the next match against Timor Leste. In the match which was held on Tuesday, July 23, victory was absolutely achieved in order to determine the steps to the main round.
