Eng Hian: Apri/Fadia Must Be Ready To Face Hell Groups At The 2024 Olympics

JAKARTA The women's doubles coach, Eng Hian, commented on his team, Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti, who must remain ready to face the hell group at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Apri/Fadia are in Group A with three tough opponents. There were the first seeds Chen Qingchen/Jia Yifan (China), Wakana Nagahara/Mayu Matsumoto (Japan), and Pearly Tan/Thinaah Muralitharan (Malaysia).

Eng Hian said that the four couples would certainly present fierce matches. He also hopes that his team can go through this initial challenge.

"We all know that group A is not an easy group. Everyone definitely doesn't want to be in this group, but this has happened. So, we have to prepare ourselves. Of course Apri/Fadia must focus on match first," he said.

Apri/Fadia are currently in Chambly, France, to undergo a training camp with the Indonesian badminton team.

In the latest exercise, Friday, July 19, 2024, the pair who won the 2021 SEA Games gold medal had the opportunity to compete against the French women's doubles, Margot Lambert/Anne Tran, a couple who will also appear at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Eng Hian said that the goal of this match is to see the maturity of the strategy and readiness towards match day.

"There must be a sense and desire to win bigger than a practice match with your own friends. This is a good point for Apri/Fadia before heading to the real game."

"So far the conditions and preparations have been going quite well. The day is increasingly focused on how to finalize tactics and strategies," said Eng Hian.

The Paris Paris Olympics will open on July 26, 2024 and will last until August 11, 2024. Apri/Fadia are included in the 29 athletes participating in the event.

The badminton sport began the day after the opening ceremony. They fought to the top of the medal match on August 5, 2024.
