JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team defender, Jay Idzes, is said to have shown the development of his career with the news that he was getting closer to Serie A club, Torino. This emerged after news of the meeting between the two parties took place.

This was first reported by Italian journalist Giacomo Morandin. Through his Twitter account, the journalist said the meeting between representatives of Idzes and Torino last weekend was the first meeting between the two parties.

"Last weekend there was a first meeting between Torino and Jay Idzes' entourage. They discussed a possible deal."

"Torino is approaching two defenders in recent days," Morandin wrote on Twitter, quoted on Thursday, July 18, 2024.

The news that Torino has tried to recruit Jay Idzes has emerged in recent weeks, especially after Il Toro recruited Paolo Vanoli, who is Idzes coach at Venezia.

Vanoli successfully brought Venezia to promotion to Serie A for the 2024/2025 season after winning the promotional playoffs from Serie B 2023/2024.

Torino Sports Director, Davide Vagnati, is also said to be considering two names to increase strength in the center-back position.

The two players are Ali Dembele, the defender Torino last season on Venezia's loan, and one other name is Jay Idzes.

If Torino really wanted to propose to Idzes, the road would not run smoothly. The reason is, apart from still having a contract with Venezia until 2027, Idzes is also included in the plan of the new coaching team, Eusebio Di Francesco.

Jay Idzes became an important Venezia player with 30 appearances in all last season to bring the promotion team to Serie A.

Appearing solid as a center-back, the 24-year-old player has qualified skills in overlaps so that he contributes three goals in Serie B 2023/2024.

Not only at his club, Jay Idzes is currently a trusted player for Shin Tae-yong in the Indonesian national team.
