Danish Mixed Doubles Withdraw From 2024 Olympics Due To Administrative Errors

JAKARTA Denmark's strongest mixed doubles pair, Mathias Christiansen/Alexandra Boje, decided to withdraw from the 2024 Paris Olympics due to administrative problems.

In Badminton Europe's statement, the couple will not appear in this important event because of the mistakes made by Christiansen when filling out the form (form) abouts.

"Mathias Christiansen has decided to resign from the mixed doubles badminton sport at the 2024 Paris Olympics," Badminton Europe wrote.

Whereabouts is a form used to find out the whereabouts of athletes for doping test purposes. The form must be regularly filled by athletes every day three months before the Olympics.

The position of the presence of athletes every day in that period is important because at any time they will be randomly doped and without any notification (random checking) by the relevant team based on their location information on whereabouts.

Christiansen accidentally made three mistakes when filling out the form to notify him of his location. It was this error that put him at risk of being penalized.

Referring to the rules, three warnings in 12 months are considered a violation of anti-doping regulations that have the potential to result in the athlete being suspended.

"I feel disappointed because of my carelessness and negligence that caused us to lose one of the peak moments of our career."

"I'm even more disappointed because this means Alexandra also can't go to the 2024 Paris Olympics. We've been training hard and looking forward to the moment to compete in Paris," Christiansen said.

Christiansen/Boje joined Group C at the 2024 Paris Olympics draw. They are in the same group as fourth seed Yuta Watanabe/Arisa Higashino (Japan), Tang Chun Man/Tse Ying Suet (Hong Kong), and Ye Hong Wei/Lee Chia Hsin (China Taipei).

The Paris 2024 Olympics will officially open on July 26, 2024 and will last until August 11, 2024. The badminton sport will be held from 27 July to 5 August 2024.
