The Indonesian Contingent For The 2024 Olympics Is Officially Confirmed

JAKARTA The Indonesian contingent, which is ready to appear at the 2024 Paris Olympics, has been officially inaugurated by the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), Ariobimo Nandito Ariotedjo.

This event took place at the Auditorium of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at noon WIB. Also attending the inauguration were the General Chair of the Indonesian Olympic Committee (NOC Indonesia) Raja Sapta Oktohari and Chef de Mission (CdM) of the Indonesian contingent Anindya Bakrie.

"By saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, I officially inaugurate the Indonesian contingent for the 2024 Paris Olympics," said the Menpora.

On this occasion, Dito also advised athletes who go to Paris to be confident in competing and competing with athletes from other countries.

"I believe victory equals people who refuse to give up until the end," he said.

"Remember, there are many countries that are bigger, but we must believe that Indonesia is a great and dignified nation. For that, compete as well as possible and show that Indonesia is a big country," said Dito again.

The Indonesian contingent then went to the State Palace to be officially released by President Joko Widodo. The plan is for the release ceremony to be held at 15.45 WIB.

The Paris 2024 Olympics officially opened on July 26 and ended on August 11, 2024. However, several sports have started competing starting July 24, 2024.

In total there are more than 10 thousand athletes from more than 196 countries who are contestants in the 2024 Olympics. They will appear in 32 sports with a total discipline of 329.

Indonesia itself has 29 athletes from 12 sports who will go to Paris. In detail, there are as many as 16 male and 13 female athletes.

The sports that escaped there were badminton, weightlifting, rock climbing, archery, judo, surfing, athletics, bicycle racing, shooting, rowing, and gymnastics.

This year, the Indonesian contingent took two targets to France. First, bringing home more than two gold medals for the first time in the history of participating in the Olympics.

Indonesia's best achievement with two gold medals was previously inscribed in the 1992 edition at Barcelona through Susi Susanti and Alan Budikusuma from badminton.

The second target is the gold medal from other sports besides badminton. As is known, the eight Olympic gold medals that Indonesia has won so far all come from badminton.
