JAKARTA - Gareth Southgate is still flooded with criticism about his game system. British supporters think the 53-year-old manager provides a negative playing style for the team.

England is still less convincing for supporters even though it has now touched the semifinals of Euro 2024.

In the group phase, the Three Lions appeared with very minimal productivity. This condition contradicts the team's productive residents at the club level.

In fact, the English players have star labels at exorbitant prices. In the aftermath, the Three Lions became the most expensive squad at Euro 2024.

However, their performance still drew criticism. In the knockout stages there was no significant improvement. They were almost eliminated twice, namely in the last 16 against Slovakia and the quarter-finals against Switzerland.

The left-back, who had just recovered from the injury, assessed the criticism of Southgate's wrong address.

"I don't really understand the criticism. What he has done for the country, for us as players, he has really taken us to the next level."

The Manchester United player further thanked Southgate for questioning him on the team.

Southgate's trust in players, according to Shaw, allows the team to show their best on the pitch.

"Now is the semifinals. For us as players, we love him. He is what we need."

"Now I have to pay back the trust he showed me," Shaw said.
