Slovakia's Warning To England: Skriniar Promises To 'tort' The Three Lions Under Pressure

Jakarta Captain Slovakia, Milan Skriniar, stated that his team is a superior team to England. In a press conference on Friday, June 28, Skriniar expressed England's weakness and emphasized Slovakia's confidence ahead of the last 16 clash on Sunday, June 30.

Gareth Southgate's side will face Slovakia who qualified from the Euro 2024 group stage as one of the best third-placed teams. After winning the opener against Belgium, Slovakia then lost to Ukraine and drew with Romania.

"I believe we will torture them. We have to try to play our way. The whole team believes we can surprise them," said Skriniar.

Skriniar stated that Slovakia is playing better as a team than England which relies more on individual quality. "They have a squad full of stars, but as a team, we are better off," explained the captain.

"We have weapons to beat them. Of course, they are definitely better than us, but with teamwork, we can beat them," added Skriniar.

Skriniar believes that the greater pressure Britain faces will benefit his team. "They will be under much greater pressure and it can play for our advantage," he said.

Skriniar, who is part of the Inter Milan squad that lost in the 2023 Champions League final to Manchester City, hopes to avenge the defeat against several British stars. Despite not playing that night, the PSG defender is respected in Europe after winning various titles in Italy, France, and his homeland.

Ivan Schranz, who scored twice for Slovakia in the group stage, would be a huge threat to Kieran Trippier on the right side of England's defense.

Slovakia's Pundit, Ladislav Borbely, also stated that Britain has no clear identity and can be beaten. "I've seen England's game and so far I haven't been able to identify what they want to play from the three games," said Borbely.

Slovakia hopes to make a surprise and reach the quarter-finals for the first time as an independent country. Meanwhile, Britain is expected to perform better after an unsatisfactory performance in the group stage.
