News Of Conor McGregor Undergoing Rehabilitation Denied

JAKARTA - Conor McGregor postponed the fight schedule against Michael Chandler. In fact, they will duel at UFC 303 on June 29, 2024.

McGregor was forced to withdraw from the fight due to an undisclosed injury.

However, a former UFC title challenger three times and ESPN expert Chael Sonnen sensationally claimed the fight was stopped because McGregor had been put into rehabilitation.

Sonnen said that McGregor was in the rehabilitation room regarding his dependence on alcohol and other substances.

"It is ironic that both parties have a great interest in alcohol. One party (McGregor) is undergoing rehabilitation for substance abuse, including alcohol."

"A man is in rehab for alcohol and other substances. Just saying, it's a tough story."

"Drink a decent drink. See you later because I am in a decent facility now, watching me not drink. I bring up the irony of the point," said Sonnen.

However, Sonnen's accusation that McGregor was in rehab was unfounded.

The Irish fighter has never been seen using illegal drugs. He also did not test positive for using the drugs.

McGregor's side through his public relations, Karen Kessler, has also opened his voice and denied Sonnen's accusations. He said the 35-year-old fighter had indeed suffered an injury during training.

"Mr McGregor is with his family. The fight was canceled after an injury he suffered during training. He's looking forward to a new date," said Kessler.

McGregor has not set foot in the octagon since his left leg broke in a trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier in July 2021.

About three years after that, McGregor finally returned to the octagon. Chandler was appointed as an opponent. However, the fight was temporarily canceled due to McGregor's injury and their new duel date is not yet clear.
