Southgate Allows Families And Couples To Enter UK National Team Camp To Reduce Pressure

JAKARTA In a bid to ease pressure on his players, England coach Gareth Southgate allowed his family and pairs of players to join the British camp after every group game at Euro 2024. The English camp, located in Weimar, Germany, is located far from host cities, making it difficult for families to meet players except for a short period after the match.

This move is part of Southgate's strategy to ensure his team feels comfortable and doesn't miss the family during a long tournament. Each player receives a care package containing photos of their loved ones on arrival in Germany, an attempt to give them a touch of the house in the camp.

Southgate has worked hard during his tenure to ensure his players do not feel far from family and home comfort. For example, after England's victory over Serbia, the family was allowed to enter the team camp the next day.

Likewise, after the match against Denmark on Thursday in Frankfurt, families and partners will be allowed to enter the team's hotel on Friday morning. The same was planned after the match against Slovenia on Tuesday at Cologne.

This is a welcome move by the players, including Jude Bellingham, who is reportedly close to Dutch model Laura Celia Valk, and wife of goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, Megan Davison, who will also join the British camp after the group match.
