Abroad Players Asked To Arrive Early To TC Indonesian National Team

JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team will face the remaining two matches of the second round of Group F of the 2026 World Cup Qualification. Shin Tae-yong has called 22 names, including a number of players who have careers abroad or abroad.

The abroad players were asked to arrive early before the schedule for the Garuda Squad training camp (TC) which will start on May 28, 2024.

"All players from Europe are expected to arrive early so the players are complete by TC."

"The agenda for the inaugural exercise is May 28, 2024," said Head of the National Team Agency (BTN), Sumardji, in a statement quoted on Monday, May 20, 2024.

Of the 22 players called Shin Tae-yong, 13 of them are players who have careers in Europe.

They are Asnawi Mangkualam, Pratama Arhan, Jay Idzes, Justin Hubner, Jordi Amat, Ragnar Oratmangoen, Shayne Pttynama, Sandy Walsh, Marselino Ferdinand, Ivar Jenner, Tom Haye, Rafael Struick, and Nathan Tjoe-A-On.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian national team will face the final two matches of the second round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers against Iraq (June 6, 2024) and the Philippines (June 11, 2024).

All of these matches will be held at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Jakarta.

The two matches are important for the Indonesian national team who are hunting for one place to qualify for the third round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.

So far, Shin Tae-yong's team is already in second place in Group F with a collection of seven points.

In order to qualify for the third round, the Garuda squad only needed one win or three points against Iraq or the Philippines.

If that target is achieved, the Indonesian national team will not only secure one place in the third round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification in the Asian Zone, but also automatically qualify for the 2027 Asian Cup.
