This Is Guardiola's Reason For Yakin Gareth Southgate And England Will Succeed At Euro 2024

JAKARTA - Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has expressed confidence that England coach Gareth Southgate will bear sweet fruit. Pep believes Southgate can bring the three Lions squad to the Euro 2024 champions in Germany because they have a good squad.

With Southgate, quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, May 4, England were able to reach the Euro 2020 final but were defeated by Italy on penalties in the final round.

"They are really good. It's not just the talent of the strikers, but the whole cast, the whole team. Gareth knows very well what he should do," Guardiola told reporters.

Guardiola said the England national team's move was the same as the Manchester City team in the Champions League which lost in the final in 2021 but won in the 2023 final.

"When you reach the (final) stages every two years, it will happen. It's very similar to us, we were close, and in the end we lifted the trophy," said Guardiola.

"Just believe it. If they believe, they can do it," he said.

City striker Phil Foden is believed to be a key player for England. Guardiola believes Foden has grown from a young player to become a key figure in the City squad.

"But I feel if he continues his career until the end here and continues that level, he can be one of the best, that's for sure," Guadiola said praising Phil Foden.
