Iraqi Coach U-23: Indonesia Team Is Difficult Because It Looks Good

JAKARTA - Iraq U-23 will be Indonesia U-23's opponent in the third race for the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup at the Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium, Thursday, May 2, 2024.

Iraq's U-23 head coach, Shenaishil, has ambitions to win the match and win one last ticket to qualify automatically for the 2024 Paris Olympics. However, he admits Garuda Muda is a serious stumbling block.

"We didn't come here to watch the Olympics. We never mentioned that we would reach the final."

"We are happy with our current situation. We still have the opportunity to forget the match against Japan U-23 and advance to the Olympics."

"We know Indonesia U-23 is a very difficult team. They are in the top four because they performed well in the group stage, but we hope to play against Indonesia and win," said Shenaishil.

Apart from being worried about Garuda Muda's strength, Sheniashil also experienced internal problems. They can't appear with a squad full of fitness issues.

"Now we have to work with the players physically. We suffered several injuries and we have to replace the players," said Sheniashil.

The Indonesia U-23 vs Iraq U-23 match is the party for the last ticket to qualify automatically for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Meanwhile, the team that lost in the third race for the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup can still fight for one remaining ticket to France.

However, the fourth-ranked team will face an inter-confederation playoffs against Guinea (the fourth tier of the 2023 U-23 Africa Cup) on May 9, 2024.
