JAKARTA - David Beckham's club Inter Miami is under investigation by Major League Soccer (MLS) regarding the recruitment of French midfielder Blaise Matuidi, according to confirmation of the United States competition.
Inter Miami signed Blaise Matuidi from Juventus on a free transfer last summer, but questions have now been raised whether Beckham's club will escape the league roster rule when signing the World Cup winner.
Inter Miami brought in Matuidi using Targeted Allocation Money instead of registering the 33-year-old as a Designated Player, which earned him a higher salary.

However, it is claimed that Matuidi has earned more than what was stipulated in his contract, meaning he should have been registered as a Designated Player.
The league announces an agreement which will be reviewed to determine whether the recruitment complies with the salary and roster rules.
"Major League Soccer has started a formal review of the recruitment of Inter Miami CF midfielder, Blaise Matuidi, specifically investigating whether the player's recruitment is in accordance with the salary budget and the rules of the roster in Major League Soccer," wrote the official MLS statement, quoted by Antara, Saturday.
"MLS will not provide further comment until the investigation is complete."
Matuidi himself has appeared 16 times for Inter Miami since his arrival in August.

The 2018 World Cup champion made his debut in a 0-0 draw against Nashville in September and scored his first goal in November when his team lost 2-1 to Toronto.
Inter Miami has recruited three Designated Players, namely Rodolfo Pizarro, Matias Pellegrini and Gonzalo Higuain.
