Aiming For The FA Cup, Chelsea Defender Warns Man City

JAKARTA - Chelsea are waiting for Manchester City to have a duel against Real Madrid in the Champions League. Defender Malo Gusto warned Man City if Chelsa carries a grudge and will vent it in the FA Cup.

Chelsea are increasingly confident and show an impressive trend in the English Premier League competition. After winning 4-3 against Manchester United, they were then detained by Sheffield United 2-2.

However, Chelsea immediately showed maximum performance in the next match by slaughtering Everton 6-0.

The big win became the Blues' valuable capital to face Man City in the FA Cup semifinal which was held at Wembley Stadium, Saturday, April 20, 2024 evening WIB.

"The previous game [against Everton] was very important. We are happy and satisfied to win. This makes us more confident in facing Saturday's match. This will also be the next important match," said Gusto.

Gusto himself is part of Chelsea's youth projected to be the backbone of the Blues in the years to come.

The 20-year-old French national team player was recruited from Lyon at the start of the 2023/2024 season. Gusto immediately became a mainstay in the defense sector. He has played 23 times in domestic competitions.

"We are a young team that has many talented players. We hope to develop together," he said. Currently, Chelsea is being rebuilt by manager Mauricio Pochettino. Only the performance of the West London club is still unstable.

Pochettino himself asked to be patient because Chelsea is a young team that is still undergoing the process of forming a solid team.

Despite failing in the competition by occupying the middle board, Chelsea had qualified for the Carabao Cup final before being defeated by Liverpool. Now, the FA Cup is Chelsea's last hope for a trophy.

Gusto also warned Man City that Chelsea had lost at Wembley in the Carabao Cup final.

According to him, Chelsea will not repeat the mistake when they return to compete at Wembley even though they meet their favorite team as well as defending champions.

"We know that the FA Cup is the last trophy that can be won. So we are working hard to prepare for this match," said Gusto.

"We will play with strong confidence. We came to Wembley to win," he said. Gusto has strong confidence that he can beat Man City because Chelsea's record meeting didn't disappoint in the Premier League competition.

Both teams drew 4-4 at Stamford Bridge. Furthermore, in a duel at the Etihad, Chelsea also detained The Cityzens 1-1.

"We got a second chance to win it. We are growing and trying to win this game," he said again.

However, Chelsea are in danger of losing frontman Raheem Sterling who missed the match against Everton. The former Man City player was declared sick so he was not fielded in that match. But he will appear at Wembley. Meanwhile, midfielder Enzo Fernandez seems unable to play when scheduled to undergo hernia surgery. But he is no longer performing in Chelsea's last match.
