Shin Tae-yong's Strong Criticism Of Referee Nasrullo Kabirov: He Will Be Considered A Joke In Indonesia

Shin Tae-yong criticized referee Nasrullo Kabirov's leadership (doc. PSSI).

JAKARTA - The U-23 Indonesian national team coach, Shin Tae-yong, gave strong criticism of the performance of referee Nasrullo Kabirov in the inaugural match of Group A of the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup. Shin felt that the referee performed poorly when he led the U-23 vs Qatar Indonesian national team match.

At the meeting at the Jassim Bin Hammad Stadium, Monday, April 15, 2024, WIB night, the U-23 Indonesian national team lost 0-2 to the host. Shin Tae-yong's team lost through Khalid Ali Sabah's penalty goal (45+1') and Ahmed Al Raqi's free kick (54') which was also considered a controversial decision.

After the match, Shin Tae-yong could not hide his disappointment with the Kabirov referee from Tajikistan. The South Korean coach even criticized Kabirov's controversial decision.

He said that if the referee did it in the country, it would obviously be considered a joke.

"Fans watched this match on television. If you use a referee like this, if you are in Indonesia, it will be considered you want to make a joke," said Shin Tae-yong in his statement quoted on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.

Shin Tae-yong felt that Kabirov's performance really harmed Indonesia in that opening match. The reason is, he not only awarded Qatar a penalty, but also kicked out Ivar Jenner with a red card after the yellow card became a matter of debate.

"The coach also has eyes, seeing from the bench throughout the match what happened," said the coach.

Head of the controversial Bureauov leadership is also a concern of the General Chairperson (Ketum) of PSSI, Erick Thohir. As a form of firm action, PSSI protested to the AFC.

The defeat to Qatar is also a big loss for Garuda Muda. The reason is, the U-23 Indonesian national team not only failed to win points, but also lost two players for the next match against Australia which was held on Thursday, April 18, 2024.

Apart from Ivar Jenner, Ramadhan Sananta also received a red card in second-half injury time.
