JAKARTA - Ducati Lenovo racer Francesco Bagnaia is determined to make up for his defeat last year in the main American MotoGP race at Circuit of the Americas (COTA), Austin, Texas, United States.
Bagnaia became one of the main protagonists at last year's American Grand Prix, winning pole positions and winning the Sprint race.
However, he lost victory in the main race as he fell and ended up not finishing the race.
The defending champion has now arrived in the United States with the motivation to fight again for victory.
"I arrived in America motivated and ready to make up for my mistakes. Last year, we were competitive all weekend and if I didn't have an accident then we would also have won the race on Sunday," Bagnaia said, quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, April 13.
Furthermore, the Italian racer estimates that there will be more fast and competitive racers in the third series of MotoGP 2024.
However, Bagnaia admitted that he was quite optimistic about his performance this weekend, considering that the first two series yesterday he performed quite well.
"I expect there will be many racers who are fast this year and this will definitely be challenging, but we have a good basis for starting the GP (coming)," Bagnaia said.
The racer with the small name Pecco admitted that COTA is one of his favorite circuits on the MotoGP calendar.
The 'American Grand Prix' is one of my favorites on the calendar (MotoGP). The track is fantastic, I really enjoy Austin and even the atmosphere of the show is different," he said.
On the other hand, his team-mate Enea Bastianini had won the podium with Ducati in 2022. At that time he was still in Gresini Racing uniform.
"I'm very happy to be back in America, where I missed last year's race with a shoulder injury. COTA is a track I really enjoy and this track has great memories of 2022, when I won my second win in MotoGP," Bastianini said.
With a solid weekend in Portugal, where he won pole and runner-up at the main race, Bastianini arrived in America to maintain momentum.
