Makassar Prepares New Stadium, Will Be Semegah Manahan Solo

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) is preparing to build a stadium in Sudiang, Makassar. The Menpora made the Solo Manahan Stadium, Central Java, a pilot.

This means that this new stadium is expected to accommodate a capacity of around 30,000 spectators.

This was known through the Minister of Youth and Sports Ario Bimo Nandito Ariotedjo, in a letter addressed to the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) dated April 2, 2024, regarding the Recommendation Letter for the construction of Makassar stadium.

"Furthermore, please sign the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing to assist the proposal in accordance with applicable regulations," said the Menpora as quoted by Antara, Saturday.

The letter to the Minister of PUPR followed up on a letter from the Governor of South Sulawesi Number 800/1000/Dispora dated March 25, 2024, regarding the Application for Construction Support for the Sudiang Stadium, Makassar - South Sulawesi Province.

In the letter of the Minister of Youth and Sports, it was stated that in accelerating the construction process of the International Bertaraf Stadium located at Sport Center - Sudiang Makassar, which is one of the objects that has caught the attention of the President of the Republic of Indonesia to immediately carry out its construction.

In accordance with the provisions of Article 1 paragraph 2 letter m of Presidential Regulation Number 120 of 2022 concerning Special Assignments in the context of accelerating the implementation of infrastructure development which reads the construction, rehabilitation or renovation of sports facilities and infrastructure to the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing.

Previously, Acting Governor of South Sulawesi Bahtiar Bahharuddin, together with Commission V of the DPR RI, reviewed the readiness of the stadium construction land in Sudiang, Biringkanaya.

The Indonesian House of Representatives has also approved the construction of the stadium which President Jokowi ordered directly to build.

Commission V wants to ensure land readiness from the planned construction of the stadium.

"Alhamdulillah, the Governor and the Mayor and the Regent of Maros mediated to prepare the land. So that it is possible for us to intervene in the APBN for development," said Deputy Chairman of Commission V DPR RI Andi Iwan Darmawan Aras.
