Fiorentina Beat Atalanta And Open Opportunities To Coppa Italia Final

JAKARTA - Fiorentina opened the opportunity to advance to the Coppa Italia final. In the first semifinal at the Artemio Franchi Stadium, Florence, Thursday, April 4, 2024 in the morning WIB, Fiorentina won 1-0 over Atalanta.

Fiorentina showed a revival while fighting in the Coppa Italia. After losing 2-1 to AC Milan in the Italian Serie A match which was also held at home, Fiorentina managed to win in a match that was no less crucial.

Victory over Atalanta opened Fiorentina's hopes to win the Coppa Italia. Moreover, La Viola has not won it for a long time. They last won in 2001. Not only that, the Coppa Italia is Fiorentina's last and only chance to close the competition by winning a championship trophy.

The only goal in that match was produced by midfielder Rolando Mandragora in the 31st minute. He fired a brilliant shot from outside the penalty box that broke into Atalanta's goal.

Mandragora fired 27.6 meters away with a goal. This is the furthest kick to produce goals from Fiorentina in various competitions this season.

Fiorentina actually had the opportunity to increase their lead when winger Nicolas Gonzalez had a good chance in the second half. It's just that his header was brilliantly pushed over by goalkeeper Marco Carnesexcchi.

Meanwhile, Atalanta got a chance through Ademola Lookman in the 66th minute. Getting a pass from Mitchel Bakker, he then fired a shot into the net.

Despite winning, Italiano revealed that Fiorentina had not yet stepped into the final. According to him, Fiorentina still has to finish the second match which is definitely not easy.

"It cannot be said that one leg we have stepped into the final. Even if we add goals, we will still have a tough match," said Italiano.

"Atalanta while playing at home will put pressure on you to half the pitch. This will be a game that is not easy," he said.
