Indonesia Brings Home Two Titles From Madrid Spain Masters 2024

JAKARTA Indonesia came out as the most successful country at the 2024 Madrid Spain Masters last week after confirming itself to bring home two titles.

The peak of the series of matches at the Super 300 BWF level was held on Sunday, March 31, 2024. Indonesia has three representatives who have penetrated the final.

Of the three representatives, two of them successfully won the title. They are the pair Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari and Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Muhammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani.

The two representatives who came out as champions both fought in a rubber game to stop their opponents.

Rinov/Pitha, who were the sixth seed in the tournament, first locked their title after stopping the Cheng Xing/Zhang Chi pair.

This is a revenge victory for Rinov/Pitha. In their only previous competitive meeting in the Orleans Masters 2024 final, the Chinese pair came out victorious.

Meanwhile, Sabar/Reza received the title after stopping the Malaysian pair, Junaidi Arif/Roy King Yap.

The two titles made Indonesia the overall champion, aka the country with the most titles in this tournament. Three titles from other sectors, each obtained by Japan, Thailand, and Singapore.

The title for Japan was presented by the women's doubles Rin Iwanaga/Kie Nakanishi. This pair stopped Indonesia's representative, Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma/Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi.

Meanwhile, the title was brought home by second seed Loh Kean Yew from Singapore in the men's singles. He stopped the French representative who was also the eighth seed, Toma Junior Popov.

Finally, from the women's singles, the title was secured by Ratchanok Intanon. This Thai badminton player defeated his compatriot, Supanida Katethong, two straight games.
