9 Indonesian Athletes Qualify For The 2024 Paris Olympics

JAKARTA Indonesia has officially passed as many as nine athletes to the 2024 Paris Olympics which will take place from July 26 to August 11.

Dua tiket terbaru didapatkan oleh duo atlet lari Lalu Muhammad Zohri dan Odekta Elvina Naibaho. Keduanya diberi fasilitas wildcard untuk tampil di ajang empat tahunan itu.

The Indonesian Olympic Committee (NOC) Indonesia confirmed the qualifying of the two athletic athletes through uploads on Instagram, Friday, March 29 afternoon WIB.

"Congratulations to the two Indonesian runners Lalu Muhammad Zohri in the men's 100 meters and Odekta Elvina Naibaho in the women's Marathon number get a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics via quote wildcard," wrote the NOC statement.

This is the second Olympics for Zohri. He previously defended Indonesia at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where he immediately stopped in the preliminary round.

Meanwhile, for Odekta this was his first participation in the prestigious four-year event.

Seven Indonesian athletes who had previously confirmed their escape from archery, one from gymnastics, one shooting, two rock climbing, and the other from surfing.

From the archery sport, Arif Dwi Pangestu and Diananda Choirunisa, then from the gymnastics there was Rifda Irfanaluthfi, the ticket shot was obtained by Fathur Gustafian, then two from rock climbing Rahmad Adi Mulyono and Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi, as well as from surfing Rio Waida.

In this year's edition, Indonesia is targeting to qualify more than 28 athletes to the event and bring home more than two gold medals for its first in Olympic history.
