All England 2024: Ginting Rises And Qualifies For Final

JAKARTA Anthony Sinisuka Ginting reached the All England 2024 final after defeating Christo Popov at Utilita Arena, Saturday, March 16 evening WIB.

Indonesia's mainstay rose from the loss of the first game to advance to the top of the BWF Super 1000 tournament with the final scores 19-21, 21-5, and 21-11.

This result made Ginting the first Indonesian men's singles who could enter the final of this tournament since Budi Santoso did it in 2002.

At that time Budi qualified for the final by defeating Lin Dan. However, he finally failed to bring home the title after losing in the final match against another Chinese representative, Chen Hong.

Ginting, who was present in this tournament as the fifth seed, previously reached the semifinals by defeating world number one badminton player Viktor Axelsen.

It was his first win over the Danish representative since he last won on January 18, 2020 at the Indonesia Masters.

This victory also ended 11 consecutive defeats against the Tokyo 2020 Olympic gold medalist.

In the final match, Ginting will face the winner of Lakshya Sen's duel against his compatriot Jonatan Christie, who has not yet competed when this news was written.
