A Total Of 27 Players Will Be Called By The Indonesian National Team For The 2026 World Cup Qualification

Nova Arianto said there were 27 players called the Indonesian national team (doc. PSSI).

JAKARTA - Assistant coach of the Indonesian national team, Nova Arianto, provided information regarding players who were called to face Vietnam. The Indonesian national team met Vietnam in the second round of the 2026 Asian Zone World Cup Qualification.

The inaugural match took place at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK) on March 21, 2024.

Nova Arianto said that 27 names would be called up to defend the Garuda Squad.

Although it has explained the amount, the detailed names will be officially submitted by PSSI before March 18, 2024.

"As we have planned, we have 27 (players who were called). On March 18, 2024, we gathered and started TC (training camp."

"Yes, it has been (determined the details of the player's name) because the time is only a short time away," Nova Arianto said on Wednesday, March 6, 2024.

The location of the training camp is planned to be held in Jakarta considering the location of the match is also held in SUGBK.

Nova conveyed this information as an extension of the head coach, Shin Tae-yong.

The reason is, the South Korean coach is in Europe to monitor Indonesian players who take part abroad.

"Obviously coach Shin saw the condition of the players. As we can see from the update on coach Shin's status to meet all the players outside."

"He (Shin Tae-yong) there saw the situation of new players (players of Indonesian descent in Europe) who might be able to help the Indonesian national team," he said.

Meanwhile, Nova did not want to comment further on the names undergoing the naturalization process, such as Thom Haye, Ragnar Oratmangoen, and Maarten Paes.

The reason is, the naturalization process for the three descendants has not been completed. The process only entered the DPR and was mentioned at the Plenary Session on Tuesday, March 5, 2024.

"Hopefully we can, we'll see the situation. Yes, we'll just have to wait for the official release of PSSI. We'll see if he enters or not," said Nova.

Apart from that, the Indonesian national team coach team is continuing to monitor Shayne Pattynama's condition.

The full-back reportedly suffered an injury while defending his team, KAS Eupen. He had to miss last weekend.

"Still controlling Shayne's condition. He said he had a little injury, but he still saw the situation whether he could appear or not. So, we are still communicating. Hopefully Shayne will not be too severe so he can appear," Nova said.
