French Open 2024: 4 Indonesian Representatives Directly Faced With Superiors

Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo immediately met the seed in the first round of the French Open 2024 (doc. PBSI).

JAKARTA Four Indonesian representatives will start a tough start to meet the seed in the first round of the French Open 2024.

The BWF Super 750 Tournament will start rolling on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, until Sunday, March 10, 2024. Indonesia has sent a total of 13 representatives to this prestigious event.

Of the total representatives, nine of them avoided meeting the seed. While the other four had to start a tough step.

The first Indonesian representative who was immediately confirmed to duel with the seed was the men's singles Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo. He will face the sixth seed from Japan, Kodai Naraoka.

This will be a tough test for Chico. Moreover, in a previous competitive event, Chico is noted to have never faced Naraoka.

The test against seed must also be passed by the women's doubles duo Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti and Meilysa Trias Puspitasari/Rachel Alllessya Rose. The two met together with representatives of South Korea.

Apri/Fadia will meet with the third seed, Kim So-yeong/Kong He-yong. On paper, Apri/Fadia recorded a 2-0 winning-loss record.

The two victories took place at the Malaysia Open 2023 and the 2023 World Championships.

Then, Meilysa/Rachel will face the second seed Baek Ha-na/Lee So-hee. This is their first competitive meeting.

The last Indonesian representatives who also immediately clashed with the seed were Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati. This pair will be tested by the Japanese mixed doubles which will be the second seed, Yuta Watanabe/Arisa Higashino.

This will be a tough match for Rehan/Lisa. The reason is, in the previous two meetings against Yuta/Arisan, they always lose. The two encounters took place at the 2022 Asian Championships and the 2023 World Championships.
