JAKARTA - Mixed doubles pair Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati qualified for the second round of the 2024 German Open.

The seventh seeded pair started their journey in the Super 300 BWF event by defeating the Scottish pair, Adam Hall/Julie Macpherson, two straight games 22-20 and 21-9.

"Alhamdulillah, we were able to win in this opening round match. However, in terms of our game, it was still a bit uncomfortable, especially in the first game. Evidently, the numbers were tight," said Rehan after the match.

Rehan said that this victory was special for him because right today, Wednesday, February 28, 2024, he celebrates his 24th birthday.

"Of course here I want to try to get the best birthday gift. I myself definitely want to be a champion at the 2024 German Open. I want to focus on playing optimally first and step-by-step," he said.

Rehan/Lisa is one of three Indonesian mixed doubles that appear at the 2024 German Open. The other two representatives are Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja and Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari.

Previously, Alwi Farhan's men's singles withdrew. As a result, Indonesia only had three mixed doubles representatives who appeared in the tournament which took place at Westenergie Sporthalle, Germany.
