Delayed By More Than A Year, The 2022 Porwanas Football Gold Medal Was Finally Handed Over To SIWO Jaya

JAKARTA - The Sports Journalists Section of the Indonesian Journalists Association (SIWO PWI) DKI Jakarta received symbolically the gold medal in the 2022 National Journalists Sports Week (Porwanas) which was held in Malang Raya, East Java.

The handover of the gold medal was carried out after the SIWO National Working Meeting (Rakernas) which was attended by 34 SIWO Provinces from all over Indonesia on Sunday (18/2/2024) at Bentar Temple, Putri Duyung Cottage, Ancol Jakarta.

The awarding of medals was carried out by the host Porwanas 2022 East Java, in this case by Dwi Budiono Setiawan, received by the Chairman of SIWO DKI Jakarta Fitriyanto and witnessed by the Chairman of SIWO Pusat Agus Susanto, the Secretary General of SIWO PWI central Erly Bahtiar and all participants of the National Working Meeting.

Previously in the 2022 Porwanas football Final on Friday (22/11/2022) at the Malang State University field between SIWO DKI Jakarta and the host SIWO East Java, due to heavy rain weather factors accompanied by lightning strikes that endanger the safety of players.

For the safety of players and match equipment on the field, the match for the gold medal was not to be held, and it was decided that the joint champions, DKI Jakarta and East Java, were entitled to a gold medal.

Because there was no stock of gold medals at that time, the awarding of a new medal was only for the host contingent. Finally, after waiting so long, the Porwanas Organizing Committee handed it over to the SIWO National Working Meeting this time.

Chairman of SIWO DKI Fitriyanto welcomed the gold medal award, "Alhamdulillah, we have finally received this gold medal. This is an acknowledgment that DKI has the status of champion along with the 2022 Porwanas football branch."

"The Panpel decision not to hold a final match when lightning strikes is right for the safety of the players. Not long ago in Bandung, a football player died on the field while playing due to being struck by lightning. I give Panpel appreciation, because Porwanas is a gathering place for journalists," said Fitriyanto.
