This Is The Hope Of Badminton Players For The Elected President

JAKARTA - A number of young Indonesian badminton players gave their hopes regarding the General Election (Pemilu) of the President and Vice President for the period 2024-2029, as well as hopes for governance in the new period, especially in the sports sector.

For Putri Kusuma Wardani's singles, she admitted that she felt excited and sad, considering that she had never cast her voice in the election.

"Because I've never been at all, so it feels like I want to try, that's it. But, I can't," said Putri, who is also a policewoman, when met at the PBSI Cipayung National Training Center, East Jakarta, recently.

However, Putri hopes that in the future the government can pay equal attention and appreciation to all sports, by not favoring only one branch.

"Of course, I want the government to have the same appreciation and attention for all sports, so that it is even, like that, not only superior, for example football, but also others such as badminton or sports that often excel," said Putri.

Another women's singles, Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo, hopes that the new period of government can support athletes to consistently make achievements in various prestigious events.

"Hopefully the government in the new period can support the athletes, so that they can continue to excel," said Ester.

"I really hope that the president who wins will and pay more attention to Indonesia's sports achievements, especially badminton," said his older brother, Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo's men's singles, adding.

In addition, the winning men's doubles for the 2024 Indonesia Masters Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin also have the same hope for the elected president and vice president.

"My hope is that the president who is elected by the people in this election can pay more attention to sports achievements, especially to badminton," said Leo.

In addition to sports, Leo also asked the elected president to lower the athlete's income tax.

"Hopefully the elected president will want to lower our income tax for badminton players," Leo added.

Similar voices came from Ribka Sugiarto. This women's doubles player really hopes that whoever the president will get a mandate from the people, can pay more attention to sports coaching in the country.

"My hope is, as other friends hope, that the president who wins the 2024 election can pay more attention to sports coaching, especially badminton," said Ribka.

Meanwhile, the 2024 General Election includes the presidential and vice presidential elections, members of the Indonesian House of Representatives, members of the DPD RI, members of the provincial DPRD, and members of the district/city DPRD with a final voter list (DPT) at the national level as many as 204,807,222 voters.
