Qatar Goalkeeper Meshaal Barsham Dianugerahi As The Best Goalkeeper Of The 2023 Asian Cup

Meshaal Barsham was named the Best Goalkeeper of the 2023 Asian Cup (doc. AFC).

Qatar goalkeeper Meshaal Barsham has been named the 2023 Asian Cup Goalkeeper of the Year. He played an important role for The Maroons to win the four-year tournament in Asia.

Barsham started in six of Qatar's seven matches, including when The Maroons beat Jordan 3-1 in the 2023 Asian Cup final at the Lusail Stadium, Saturday, February 10, 2024.

Barsham performed solidly throughout Qatar's campaign in the 2023 Asian Cup. The goalkeeper Al Sadd SC recorded three clean-sheets of Qatar's seven matches.

Meshaal Barsham answered coach Marquez Lopez's trust when he was appointed as the main goalkeeper to shift Saad Al-Sheeb.

Previously, Saad Al-Sheeb was Qatar's main goalkeeper when he won the 2019 Asian Cup.

In addition, Saad Al-Sheeb was also named the best goalkeeper in the 2019 Asian Cup.

This means that Barsham continued the baton as the Best Goalkeeper of the Asian Cup for Qatar, defending the title that Al-Sheeb had obtained.

Meanwhile, Qatar's 2023 Asian Cup trophy means they managed to defend their two consecutive editions.

Qatar joined the previous four countries that also won the Asian Cup in two consecutive editions, namely South Korea, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Japan.
