Lucas Ocampos Becomes Victim Of Harassment In Sevilla Vs Rayo Vallecano Match

Sevilla visited the de Vallecas Stadium against Rayo Vallecano in the 23rd week of La Liga 2023/2024, Tuesday, February 6, 2024, early morning WIB.

Sevilla successfully brought home three points after winning 2-1. Los Nervionenses' two goals contributed to Youssef En-Nesyri's brace in the 19th and 45th minutes. While the host's single goal was scored by Isil Palazon in the 29th minute.

The party actually went as it should. Vallecano dominated with 68 percent possession, releasing 22 shots, and five of them on target. Sevilla, who acted as a guest, appeared more effective.

However, the spotlight does not refer to the course of the match, but rather the sexual harassment experienced by Sevilla player, Lucas Ocampos.

The incident began when Ocampos were about to throw it inside. When he was about to throw, a host supporter from the stands threw his finger, rather stabbed him in the Argentine's butt.

The surrounding audience responded jokingly. The annoyed ocampos turned their bodies towards the stands and looked at the fans as angry.

Because of the incident, Ocampos asked La Liga to investigate and take further action against the case.

Meanwhile, in terms of Sevilla, the club issued its official statement that they condemned the actions of the host Rayo Vallecano and had complained directly to La Liga.

"About the obscene and completely inappropriate actions experienced by Lucas Ocampos at the Estadio de Vallecas.

"We want to show our disgust over the incident that occurred this Monday (local time) during our match against Rayo Vallecano."

"Our player, Lucas Ocampos, has been subjected to obscene acts and is completely inappropriate for the hosts."

"We hope that the appropriate steps outlined in the regulations will be taken to prevent such behavior from happening again on the football field."

"We have conveyed this directly to La Liga. This attitude and behavior should not be left in competition if you want to be the best league in the world."

"We fully send our support to Lucas Ocampos, who demonstrates extraordinary calm and professionalism despite unacceptable behavior from fans who harass him," read Sevilla's official statement on the club's website.

Apart from that, Sevilla's victory over Vallecano contributed importantly to improving his position in the standings. Currently Los Nervionenses are ranked 15th with 20 points.
