Thailand Masters 2024: Two Indonesian Representatives Have Fallen

Tommy Sugiarto has died in the 2024 Thailand Masters qualifying round (doc. PBSI).

JAKARTA - Thailand Masters 2024 has been rolling on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, until February 4, 2024 at Nimibutr Stadium, Bangkok.

Two Indonesian representatives died on the first day. Tommy Sugiarto, who started from the qualifying line, went straight home.

The Indonesian men's singles lost against India's representative, S. Sankar Muthusamy Subramanian, in a rubber game.

Tommy had taken the first set with a far-reaching 21-17 advantage. However, in the second set, the opponent was able to get out of pressure and put up a fierce fight.

Unfortunately, Tommy failed to secure the second set and had to give up Sankar's 21-17 win.

In the determination set, Tommy's appearance decreased. On the other hand, Sankar played more confidently so that he was able to take the third set with a score of 21-12.

Another Red-and-White representative that ran aground on the first day of Thailand Masters 2024 was the women's doubles Meilysa Trias Puspitasari/Rachel Alllessya Rose.

They failed to get past the first half after losing against China's women's doubles, Li Yi Jing/Luo Xu Min, two straight sets with a score of 21-13 and 21-14.

A number of other Indonesian representatives will undergo matches on the first day of Thailand Masters 2024.

There are Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma/Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi and Lanny Tria Mayasari/Ribka Sugiarto who will appear in the first round of the women's doubles.

Febriana/Amalia are scheduled to meet Chang Ching Hui/Yang Chng Tun (China Taipei). Meanwhile, Lanny/Ribka will meet Annie Xu/Kerry Xu from the United States.

Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Moh. Reza Pahlevi Isfahani and Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri also underwent the first round today.

Patience/Reza will fight Lee Jhe-Hue/Yang Po-Hsuan from China Taipei. Then, Bagas/Fikri will face Dong Adam/Nyl Yakura from Canada in the first round of Thailand Masters 2024.
