Pochettino's Ambition To Win The First Trophy With Chelsea

JAKARTA - Manager Mauricio Pochettino has ambitions to win his first trophy with the English club after bringing Chelsea to the Carabao Cup final. However, his opponent in the final was not easy.

Pochettino was unlucky when he complained about his fate in the English Premier League. During his five years in charge of Tottenham Hotspur, he has never won a title once.

At most, the Argentine brought the North London club to the 2015 Carabao Cup finalists and then only became the 2019 Champions League finalists.

When he moved to France to puzzle Paris Saint-Germain, he immediately won the championship trophy. Pochettino has only been at PSG for a year and a half.

However, he has already given three trophies, Ligue 1, French Cup or Coupe de France, and Super Cup or Trophee des Champions.

Now, he returns to England and handles another London club, Chelsea. Pochettino hopes to win the trophy in his first year at Stamford Bridge.

"I really want to win the championship title here. We've won three trophies in a year and a half in Paris. Of course I also want to win it here," said Pohettino.

This hope was expressed by the former Southampton Manager after Chelsea advanced to the Carabao Cup final. Chelsea stepped into the top match after eliminating Championship club Middlesbrough.

In the second semifinal match at Stamford Bridge, Wednesday, January 24, 2024 in the morning WIB, Chelsea won 6-1. This made the Blues 6-2 on aggregate. The reason is, in the first semifinal Chelsea lost 1-0.

Regarding Chelsea's chances with players who are mostly young in the final at Wembley, Pochettino remains optimistic. According to him, Chelsea is a young team that continues to grow.

"We are a young team and continue to grow. The matches that have been undertaken provide valuable experience for players. This helps us to compete," said Pohettino.

"We are indeed building the best team with good mentality. However, we still need time," he said.

"We are heading for the final and have the chance to win the first trophy of the season," said Pochettino.
