Shin Tae-yong Spreads Threats Ahead Of The Indonesian Vs Japan National Team: Don't Underestimate Southeast Asian Representatives

JAKARTA - Garuda Squad Coach Shin Tae-yong gave a strong warning ahead of the match between the Indonesian vs Japan national team in the third match of Group D of the 2023 Asian Cup. He said that other countries should not underestimate representatives from Southeast Asia, including the Red and White Team.

The Indonesian national team will duel against Japan at the Al Thumama Stadium, Doha, on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at 18.30 WIB. The match determines the fate of the Blue Samurai and Garuda Squad to step into the round of 16.

In the match later, the Indonesian national team was not seeded. However, Shin Tae-yong dared to spread threats and admitted that the Southeast Asian representative countries, including Indonesia, were developing.

"As you said, Southeast Asian football is currently growing, especially countries such as Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia. Four teams are very competitive," Shin Tae-yong said in a press conference ahead of the match, Tuesday, January 23, 2024.

Shin Tae-yong expressed his statement about the strength of the Southeast Asian state because he reflected on the evidence achieved by Thailand. The White Elephant Team in Group F was able to beat Kyrgyzstan 2-0 and detain Oman 0-0.

"So, I want to say that if other countries underestimate Southeast Asian football, they are wrong. Our Southeast Asian football continues to grow," said the South Korean coach.

On the last matchday of Group D, Japan will appear with high enthusiasm in order to pick up three points in order to qualify directly for the round of 16 of the 2023 Asian Cup. Meanwhile, the Indonesian national team only needed series results to aim for the best third position and move on to the knockout round.
