Fix Indonesian U-20 National Team Play Engineering, Indra Sjafri To Involve National Runners

JAKARTA - Indonesia U-20 coach, Indra Sjafri, found that a number of players were not yet correct in mastering playing techniques, including how to run. In order to fix this, the coach involved the national runner.

This was revealed by Indra Sjafri after leading the internal Indonesian U-20 game in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Friday, January 19, 2024.

"Our coaching team saw that there was a way of running or their wrong running technique. We fixed it with the help of Mas Suryo Agung, a former national runner," said Indra Sjafri.

Indonesia U-20 has been undergoing training camp (TC) for three weeks with Indra Sjafri. This agenda was held as a team preparation to appear in the 2024 AFF U-20 Cup and the target was to qualify for the 2025 U-20 World Cup in Chile.

The players continue to get new material every week, including running exercises with national runners. In addition, Indra Sjafri also asked his team to undergo pilates and gyms three times a day as a training agenda.

"We've been in for three weeks, there's a stimulus for players. We practice three times a day, then there's the pilates session."

"Every morning there are rehearsals at 5.30, at 10.00 and in the afternoon at 15.30 WIB. We also use the gym at the medical sports center," said the coach from West Sumatra.

After this stage is deemed sufficient, Indra Sjafri will only lead his troops into tactical and strategic materials. The material will also be applied by players during the test agenda against Thailand and Uzbekistan at the end of January 2024.

"Next week it will be tactical, then the first international trial will be on 26 (January 2024). We will focus on tactics first," said Indra Sjafri.

The U-20 Indonesian national team has two international trial agendas. They will first face Thailand on January 26, 2024. After that, they will challenge Uzbekistan on January 30, 2024 at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Senayan, Jakarta.
